KOMIPO Stages Social Contribution Activities Tailored to Target Group

Members of Social Service Corps of KOMIPO Headquarters are taking a group photo after taking part in social contribution activities on the occasion of Lunar New Year holiday season.


Occasioned by Lunar New Year 2018 holiday season, Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO) staged a wide array of social contribution activities nationwide, tailored to the needs of target groups.

 

Designating the Feb. 5-16 period as "Happiness Sharing Week With Lunar New Year Holiday Season", KOMIPO's Social Service Corps spent a combined about 110 million won, which had been raised by voluntary donation from KOMIPO executives and employees.

 

On behalf of KOMIPO headquarters, 20 members of Social Service Corps visited a center for people with intellectual disabilities in Boryeong City, Chungcheongnam-do Province to stage clean-up works there and to deliver daily necessities.

 

Members of Social Service Corps of Seoul Construction Site Division, combined with the Multicultural Families Support Center to deliver daily necessities to economically difficult families there as well as visiting a welfare center, providing aged people with Tteokguk (rice cake soup) service.

 

Members of Social Service Corps of Seocheon Thermal Power Plant Site Division visited its 24 sisterhood-ties villages during the happiness sharing week, delivering around 24 million worth of commodities as well as staging environment purification works there.

Members of Social Service Corps of Incheon Thermal Power Plant Site visited a military base in the region, delivering fruit gifts as well as visiting aged peoples' cultural center and provided them with prepared foods, etc.

 

In particular, KOMIPO Service Corps used onnuri merchandise certificates for goods used in its service activities, contributing to the activation of traditional market.

KOMIPO President & CEO Park Hyung-Gu said, "We will continue to help the needy people, delivering dream and light, realizing the value of sharing as a public enterprise."

On March 4, KOMIPO's Boryeong Thermal Power Plant #3 achieved a milestone 6,500 days of LTTF (long-term, trouble-free ) operation for the first time in the world.

 

Boryeong TPP #3, the first Korean standard 500MW coal-fired thermal power plant, renewed its 6,000 days of LTTF registered on Sept 27 in 2016. The TPP recorded 5,000 days of LTTF in November in 2014, certified by the World Record Academy, one of the world's three largest record-certifying organizations.

 

The outstanding technological capabilities of plant operators, gained through regular education & training as well as accumulated facility improvement experience and knowhow have played key roles in achieving the world record parade of LTTF operation.

 

Beyond Korea, with its export of the Cirebon TPP to Indonesia, built and operated by KOMIPO, the Korean standard coal-fired power plant represents the technological excellence of the Korean electric power industry around the world

 

Meanwhile. the Boryeong TPP #3 will undergo retrofits from September this year, aiming at facility improvement for low-carbon, high-efficiency and eco-friendliness.

 

KOMIPO plans to invest a total of 72 billion won in order to reduce air pollutants, including fine dust, by 84% next year compared with 2015.

KOMIPO Holds Kickoff Meeting of Sub-Committee

- Improve Air Environment Involving Coalyards, etc.

An inaugural sub-committee meeting to improve air improvement involving Boryeong TPP coalyards & coal ash treatment facility is under way the conference room of Boryeong Power Generation Site Division.


On March 7, Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO) held the kick-off meeting of the sub-committee, designed to work out measures to improve air environment involving coalyards and coal ash treatment facility at Boryeong Power Generation Site Division.

 

The sub-committee consists of representatives of residents living nearby Boryeong thermal power plants, environment professionals as well as environment-affairs organizations officials.

 

In the meeting, KOMIPO presented its plan to reduce fugitive dust at the Boryeong TPP coalyards and coal ash treatment facility.

 

Members of the sub-committee positively valued KOMIPO's efforts to stage "responsive and responsible" communication with regional residents based on mutual understanding & openness. Illustratively, KOMIPO has been holding a series of explanatory meeting with residents neighboring its TPPs.

 

KOMIPO plans to invest about 1,805 billion won to reduce air pollutant materials from its existing coal-fired thermal power plants by 80% until 2025 compared with 2015. KOMIPO power plants under construction will be equipped with high-efficient and eco-friendly power generation facilities.

 

Moreover, KOMIPO plans to invest a total of 500 billion won until 2025 for the construction of indoor coalyard, capable of 1 million tons.

 

KOMIPO President & CEO Park Hyun-Koo said, "KOMIPO will maximize its efforts to hear opinion from residents, sharing information, generating better understanding & co-prosperity."

KOMIPO Participates in Anti-Corruption Pledge Declaration

 KOMIPO President & CEO Park Hyung Koo participating in the anti-corruption pledge declaration of Fair Play Club, is vowing to practise ethics management on March 7.


Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO) attended the ceremony of the Fair Player Club's Anti-Corruption Pledge Declaration, which was hosted by UNGC (United Nations Global Compact) Korea Association on March 7 in Seoul.

 

Supported by Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission, Fair Player Club is government-private forum, aimed at the enhancement of law-abiding spirit and & ethical management.

 

In the ceremony, representative of enterprises vowed to stage ethical management, reviewing the Fair Player Club's past three years activities. It was KOMIPO's second participation in the anti-corruption declaration ceremony.

 

KOMIPO President & CEO Park Hyung Koo said, "Occasioned by our participation in the anti-corruption pledge ceremony, KOMIPO will intensify efforts to lead anti-corruption management culture in Korea." KOMIPO Scores Highest Grade in '17 Shared Growth Assessments

- Showcasing Value-Based Management, Anchoring 'Better Energy, Better World'


Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO) scored the highest "Excellent" grade in 2017 public organizations shared growth performance assessments, managed by the Ministry of SMEs & Startups (MSS).


 

KOMIPO has received the top-grade for three consecutive years, mirroring its consistent pursuit of a value management along with the KOMIPO motto "Better Energy, Better World."

An ad hoc committee, comprising professionals from relevant areas, had been formed by the government to measure the shared growth performance results of 58 public organizations. Five public organizations including KOMIPO were chosen as "Excellent" grade earners.

 

KOMIPO's receipt of the highest grade had been the fruit of its various and innovative shared growth activities including its accompanied advance into overseas markets with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under the project title of K-Jangbogo and innovative job creating activities, conducive to shared growth and sustainability alike.

 

KOMIPO hosted youth startup contest last year for the first time as a public enterprise. It was chosen as the most outstanding enterprise involved in multilateral result sharing. Moreover, KOMIPO has also been cited as a valuable supporter for Korean SME's successful conclusion of 10 billion worth of business contract with MHPS (Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems).
